In a late-onset form of familial Alzheimer disease, Pericak-Vance et al. identified linkage to a locus on chromosome 12, thus distinguishing it from the forms of the disorder that had been previously related to the amyloid precursor protein gene (GEM:21q211/APP), the presenilin-1 gene (GEM:14q243/PSEN1), the presenilin-2 gene (GEM:01q/PSEN2), and the apolipoprotein E gene (GEM:19q132/AD2). The combined data of 54 families showed maximum lod score of 3.5 at a point between D12S1042 and D12S390. On the cytogenetic map, this interval corresponds to the region between Chr 12p11.23 and Chr 12q13.12 (Pericak-Vance-1997)." |
